The idea for this project was following the main theme of NEST (art gallery in The Hague) about the body, relating to humanism and trans-humanism. What the future body could be like and the idea of bionics and technology coming into play.
Taking a different approach, the focus on the human body seemed uninteresting and over-used as a visual. Instead, posing an internal idea of what would happen when a highly evolved robot where to 'die' and go to some sort of purgatory. Trying to question if an artificial intelligence uploaded with a human consciousness would still be human or not. Our minds and our consciousness are what makes us human, however the shell; the body, is immediately recognized as a part of us, however imagine the body as just a useful structure in dolling out what the mind wants and needs.
Therefore, in a future world, if a human where to be transferred into a digital consciousness, human ideas such as purgatory, hell, etc. would still exist according to the human robot hybrid, hypothetically speaking. And therefore, the only thing that is constant is the human mind, not the body. One can live without the other but not in visa versa.
